Arrangements for B2V Phase II reviewed

SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Nov 23: Arrangements for successful conduct of 2nd phase of Back to Village (B2V) Programmes were reviewed in several districts by the respective District Development Commissioners (DDCs).
In a meeting of district officers, District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said special Gram Sabhas would be conducted during the B2V Phase II programme. He said that the gazetted officers will hold detailed discussions with concerned Sarpanchs and Panchs and interact with the locals about developmental need of their areas.

He said the officers shall visit all 21 halqa panchayats of the district and conduct a host of activities formulated as part of the programme. “Among other activities, the officers will assess the status of works taken after the first phase of the programme held in June, besides ensuring hundred percent enrolment of beneficiaries under relevant welfare schemes of the Government,” he added.
The DDC said that a control room under the supervision of Chief Planning Officer Srinagar has been established at DC Office Srinagar to ensure coordination for smooth conduct of the programme. The meeting was informed that officers from all line departments along with field functionaries will be present at all halqa panchayats during the course of the programme.
In Baramulla, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo, while briefing the media regarding the preparations put in place for the smooth conduct of 2nd phase of ambitious “Back to Village’ programme, said that 60 officers have been appointed from GAD while the remaining officers have been appointed by the district administration for the said programme.
He further said that major thrust area of the programme will be to assess the progress in follow-up of decisions in 1st phase of Back to Village. oreover, he also sought cooperation from the people besides urging upon them to project their issues and demands in front of the visiting officers.
Likewise, DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav held an interaction with Block Chairmen to review the status of works taken up under ‘Back to Village’ phase-I besides reviewing arrangements for second phase of the programme. He said that B2V phase II, being organised from November 25 to 30, would specifically focus on assessing the functionality of Panchayati Raj Institutions and reach of individual beneficiary schemes in rural parts.
Reviewing preparations for implementation of second phase of the ambitious programme, he urged upon the Chairmen to sensitize the people about the need and importance of this people friendly programme for ensuring rural transformation. He asked them to work in close coordination with the line departments and field functionaries to ensure proper utilization of funds and timely completion of development works in their blocks.
Meanwhile, DDC Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib held a meeting with various district officers and ground workers from Rural Development Department and briefed everybody about their role in the upcoming Back to Village programme, here at district headquarters today.
A brief training and awareness session for VLWs, MPWs and other ground staff was also conducted as part of the meeting. During the session, thorough introduction to various guidelines, feedback forms and other important documents was also provided.
