Arrangements for police public mela discussed

SRINAGAR, Aug 23:  21st Police Public Mela being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police would be held here on September 30, 2012. Fabulous 4485 Raffle Draw Prizes would be available for the lucky winners in the Mela.
Arrangements for the day long event were discussed in a high level meeting of police officers held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The meeting was conducted by Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) S P Vaid.  Additional Directors General of Police, Dr. Ram Lubhaya and Naveen Aggarwal also attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that Police Public Mela is one of the grant event organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police after regular intervals. The event has assumed much importance and public in large participate in these Melas. People from all shades of life anxiously wait for the Melas to get different items from different regions of the State under one roof.
The Melas have also helped in strengthening police public bonds and the raffle draw has become the most awaited occasion of the event. Transparency in the conduct of raffle draw has cemented the image of the Organization among the masses.
While discussing arrangements for the event, the Mr Vaid stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and convene meetings at different levels to make the event a success. He said that all required arrangements should be finalized well in advance and all units geared up for the massive participation in the Mela.
The Additional Director General of Police (Security) Dr. Ram Lubhaya asked the participants to make efforts for the massive participation of public and their convenience. He said that security arrangements in and around the venue would be ensured on the occasion and the experiences from the previous Melas would be utilized to rectify the deficiencies. Participation of martyrs families would add glory to the event, said the ADGP.
After having threadbare discussions, various committees were constituted under the supervision of senior police officers to make the preparations for the grant event.  IGP (Armed) Kashmir, Rauf-ul-Hassan was designated as Nodel Officer for the event who would coordinate the working of different committees.
The meeting decided that 4485 prizes, including home appliances and cash prizes would be included in this year’s Raffle Draw. Painting competition for the wards of police personnel would be conducted during the Mela and the position holders would be rewarded with enhanced cash prizes.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGPs, V. K. Singh, S. M. Sahai, Owais Ahmed, Dr. B. Srinivas, A. K. Choudhary, Abdul Ghani, Dr. K. K. Saini, Yoginder Koul, Alok Puri, and Muneer Ahmed Khan, DIGs, T. Namgiyal, A. K. Atri, R. P. Resutra, S. A. Mujtaba and  Abdul Hamid, AIGPs (PHQ), Ghulam Hassan Bhat, A. A. Kakroo, R. S. Sambyal and Shabir Ahmed, Exn: PCD (PHQ), N. D. Khawaja, Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital, Dr. M. S. Koka and other police officers.
