ARs’ strike hits normal functioning of JU administration

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 23: As the Jammu University officers of the rank of Assistant Registrar and equivalent proceeded on indefinite protest leave for implementation of their Career Advancement Scheme, normal functioning of the university administration was severely hit today.
The protesting officers did not attend their duties and remained on protest leave while there was no offer from the University administration for settling the issue.
Even as a few elements within the JU administration attempted to create confusion among the aggrieved officers, President of JU Officers Forum Rajinder Singh told the Excelsior that the University did not offer talks so far and hence the indefinite protest was continuing.
As already reported, the officers who went on indefinite protest leave from today, are up in arms against unprecedented delay in implementation of the Promotional scheme, which was approved by the University Council more than two years back but not put into practice because of the reasons best known to the top authorities in JU.
Since these protesting Assistant Registrars are holding crucial position of Branch Officers in the University administration, impact of the strike was visible on normal functioning of JU.
Pertinent to mention that among these officers, K P S Sambyal is posted as AR DCD and Incharge Undergraduate Admission; Ashwani is AR Research & Awards; Mahim is AR Paper Setting/ Confidential/ Secrecy and Teaching Wing; Dhritika is AR Teaching Wing as well as Non-Teaching Wing of Class IV and Electrical employees; Sumita is AR Grants, Rainoo Bhai is AR Academic Affairs (JUET Admissions); Vinay Thusoo is official Spokesperson of JU; Imran is PRO to VC and JU Vigilance Officer; Guneet Singh is Incharge Services and Saran is AR Development and Incharge RUSA.
Because of these officers on protest leave, functioning of the administration branches under their control was completely paralyzed and the situation is likely to remain the same as there was no offer for negotiations by the Vice-Chancellor, who is allegedly being misguided by some negative elements in the top administration.
