JAMMU, May 26: Congress Legislature Party Leader, Rigzin Jora accused the BJP of flogging the dead horse of Article 370 and its abrogation.
“Whenever the BJP finds the ground slipping under its feet, it resorts to the emotive issue of abrogation of Article 370. To do so in Jammu by its chief spokesman, is a sure sign of BJP finding itself weaker, “Mr Jora said in a statement here.
He said the past 75 days has seen the PDP- BJP Coalition Government stumbling from one controversy to another, with no end in sight, as if this Government suffers from obsessive compulsive controversy disorder. Just when we thought the people are getting some respite from the daily spectacle of the coalition antics and theatrics, Mufti Sayeed threw the bombshell – the prestigious artificial lake on river Tawi is not feasible technically.
Coming on the heels of the shifting of AIIMS to Srinagar, this raised the heckles of BJP ministers so much that they are all running helter-skelter trying for damage control. It was in this background that national spokesman of the BJP reverted back to BJP core agenda of abrogation of Article 370. Both at the State and National level BJP resorts to its pet agenda of Ram Mandir, Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code when it finds itself in dire strait. Since, it stands thoroughly exposed in Jammu for its failure to safe guard Jammu’s interest, it was not unexpected that they raked up the issue of Article 370, Jora added.
While the press conference was meant for highlighting one year of Modi Government, it focussed solely on Article 370 as the State is far from experiencing `Ache Din’. On the contrary routine rehabilitation and reconstruction work has been hampered due to lack of funds, the prices of essential commodities, particularly, pulses have gone up, the petrol and diesel prices have steadily been going up despite fall in price the international market, Jora alleged.
He said BJP finds itself outsmarted and outwitted by Mufti Sayeed every now and then. Therefore, BJP’s frustration is visible. Hence, falling back on abrogation of Article 370, the CLP leader added.
