Sir,
Art and Literature are the two major constituents of a culture of a civilisation. To preserve art and literature is everybody’s responsibility. There is no doubt that there is continued political intrusion in the lives of all and it has assumed an alarming shape. First of all, Jammu and Kashmir government lags behind in preserving the art and literature. Secondly, it has been seen that in any programme pertaining to art and literature the chief guests are mostly from political fraternity. It is true that the persons in politics can help different organisations in terms of finances, but some political personalities chairing the literary and art related programmes seem like round peg in a square hole. There are many giant personalities in our state in the field of art and literature. It will be a healthy sign for the literary and art loving people if the government and other organisations use the services of such personalities and invite them to be guests, guests of honour or chief guests. It will not only improve the standard of the programmes but will also give positive signals throughout.
Yours etc…
