JAMMU, Mar 23: Annual art exhibition by the students from Fine Arts Department of Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, was opened at Rinchen Bzangpo Art Gallery at University of Jammu.
Prof Jigar Mohammed, Dean Research Studies (DRS), JU, inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest. He was accompanied by Prof Poonam Chaudhary, Principal IMFA beside artist fraternity.
Creative works in diversity of individual expressions in different mediums and styles of budding artists and products of IMFA are put on display in the exhibition. Painstaking creative expressions revealed optimism for the bright future of the students.
The guests and visitors had a round of the exhibition. The display work of Applied Art and Scuplture were outstanding indeed in majority. The other art works drew the attention of the viewers as well.
The exhibition consisting of about 200 art works, was the outcome of the efforts and supervision of Rakesh Sharma, Milan Sharma, Rohit Verma and Sukhjit Singh from various departments of visual arts.
Prof Poonam Chaudhary underlined the yearly accolades and achievements of Institute of Music and Fine Arts went underway and lauded the collective endeavours of its staff and students.
Prof. Jigar Mohammed termed the works of IMFA as commendable and symbol of commitment to the study of art.
Musical concert commenced with Saraswati Vandana by the students of Vocal and Violin Deptt, where Sunil Verma was on Harmonium and Rajesh Kumar on Tabla. It was followed by group violin recital in Raag Bihaag with Chhotta Khayal, Alaap, Tanas and Jhala in Teen Taal where Rajbeer Singh and Mohit Kumar on Tabla accompanied. Vocalist were directed by Suraj Singh and Dr Jasmeet Kaur.
Taalika- 3 Taal was played by Tabla Deptt under the direction of Jagdish Raj and accompanied on Harmonium by Dr Sujata Rajput. The next item was vocal recital in Shudh- Kalyan in Teen Taal. Rajesh Kumar accompanied them on Tabla. Students from Vocal Department also rendered devotional song.
Musical evening got rounded- off with group song in Dogri composed by noted singer Suraj Singh and penned by Sanjay Vidrohi. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Khushpal and Deepali Singha. Bahadur Singh noted violinist presented vote of thanks.
