JAMMU, Sept 22: The artists of Kathua under the banner of Sangeet Kalakar Ekta Manch today criticized the announcement of Rs one thousand relief for only 3100 artist which is a joke with them.
While addressing the media persons, Sangeet Kskajar Ekta Manch , artists Sushil Kumar, Rekha Kumari, Parmodh Kumar, Gourav Kumar criticized the relief package for selected and rich artists of J&K and termed it as an eyewash.
They alleged that as there are nearly 10,000 artists in Jammu province who have not so far been registered by J&K Cultural Academy Jammu. All the artists have been left in lurch due to lockdown and without job for them. They are living hand to mouth and some of them are working as labourers also.
They demanded Rs 5000 per month for all artists those are registered or not registered with cultural Academy Jammu. They also appealed the LG to issue an order to J&K Cultural Academy to start a drive to registering the new artists.
