ARTO Baramulla seeks FIR against RTI activist

Srinagar, Jan 31: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla has demanded an FIR against an RTI activist for allegedly defaming the office of the ARTO particularly the person holding the charge.
In a letter sent to the SSP Cyber Police, Kashmir the ARTO said: “One person namely Sirajudin Salam of Baramulla submitted an RTI application before APIO and same was replied within time framework. Now, he again tried to defame and malign the image of our organization by uploading a video through a local news agency QNS without verifying the facts.”
The letter states that the last time, the concerned person had uploaded a similar video and the same was brought into the notice of the SHO Cyber Police Station, Srinagar.
“It is pertinent to mention here that investigation agencies have every right to verify the facts but how can common person certify things with authority on social media defaming the organization especially me,” the letter read.
The ARTO has requested the SSP Cyber Police Kashmir to lodge an FIR in this regard and also certify the content of the uploaded video “so that justice prevails and we work with decorum and dignity.”
