SAMBA, Dec 28: Condemning the controversial statement of Haji Sagheer and alleged BJP propaganda for diverting attention from real issues, senior Congress leader and PCC member Arun Sharma today said that the Congress party does not need a certificate from any Tom, Dick and Herry to prove its patriotism.
Addressing a press conference, here today, Arun Sharma said that frustrated over defeat in five States, the BJP leaders had resorted to false propaganda against the Congress party, which had already distanced itself from the self styled Haji Sagheer Khan.
“Congress party fully trusts the Indian Army, which has been doing commendable job for the safety and integrity of the nation,” he said adding that Congress party has been serving the country for the last 138 years.
Further, he reminded, PCC president and Congress Chief Spokesman have already condemned the statement of said Sagheer Khan, who claims himself to be a leader of minority cell of Congress Party and had remarked that if voted to power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party would provide compensation to militant family.
Arun Sharma said that frustrated over their defeat in recently held Assembly polls in five States, the BJP leaders were trying to divert attention of people from real issue and create un-necessary controversies. “BJP wants to divert intention of the common masses by fueling such type of communal issues which have no values,” he said and added that the Congress party was ever ready to go to the people for getting their mandate.
Arun Sharma also urged the Election Commission of India to hold the Parliament as well as J&K Assembly elections simultaneously. He urged the party cadre to reach at booth level to aware the people and highlight Congress policies and programmes.
Among others, who were present in the press conference, included Gambir Singh Sambyal, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Ajay Puri, Naresh Sharma, Tilak Raj Gupta, Raj Kumar Padha and Rajesh Singh.
