JAMMU, Dec 10: Arvind Gupta, senior BJP leader and MLA West constituency, has expressed resentment against the bad condition of government schools located in the heart of Jammu City.
During his visit to Government Middle School Sarwal and Government Middle School Rehari in West constituency, which operate from the same building, he uncovered a shocking neglect of infrastructure and basic amenities.
While interacting with Sharmila Gupta , Principal of Government Middle School Sarwal, and Poonam , Principal of Government Middle School Rehari, the senior BJP leader took stock of the facilities being provided to students. He was shocked over the dilapidated infrastructure, absence of boundary walls, lack of dustbins, deplorable condition of toilets and meals being prepared in unhygienic conditions.
Arvind said that in the era of New India, where the Central Government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is tirelessly working to transform education, such disgraceful conditions exist in our schools. How can we inspire confidence among parents to send their children to Government schools when they resemble ruins rather than learning spaces?”
In a bold move, Arvind Gupta immediately initiated a video call with Suresh Gupta, Commissioner Secretary of Education, showcasing the dilapidated state of the schools live on camera. He resented over the Education Department for its repeated failures, noting that despite numerous visits by departmental officials, no substantial efforts had been made to rectify the situation.
“I will not tolerate such apathy towards the future of our children. If the condition of these schools are not improved within a stipulated timeframe, I will be compelled to take stringent action to hold those responsible accountable,” he said.
Pertinent to mention here that this visit followed his recent inspections of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gole Gujral and Government High School Gole Gujral, where similar shocking conditions prevailed.
