Aryans among 13 selected campuses to be developed as Green

MOHALI, May 19: Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has selected Aryans College of Engineering Rajpura, near Chandigarh for developing its campus into Green campus under its scheme on development of Solar Cities.
In accordance with this Ministry’s Administrative approval vide no5/4/2013-14/SC on the scheme of “Development of Solar Cities” these 12 organizations have been sanctioned a grant of Rs 5,00,000/- each for preparing the master plan which should be done within 12 months as per the guidelines in order to develop their campuses as green campuses.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh while thanking the ministry for this initiative said that the funds would be released under “Development of Solar Cities” scheme of MNRE. He further said that Aryans campus has 21 acre lush green land and is far away from the polluted sites of the city. The uncovered area would help Utilization of renewable energy system such as solar water heater, solar air conditioning; solar dryers, solar cookers, solar pumps, solar cooking systems for hostels etc in much better way.
Kataria further added that the initiative would help to reduce environmental pollution such as air pollution caused by burning of fossil fuels and improve public health, reduce premature mortalities due to pollution and save associated health costs. It would further decrease the dependence and use of Natural resources like coal, petroleum, natural gas etc.
Apart from Aryans Group, Bihar Agricultural University, Bhagalpur; Mahatama Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday University, MP; Uttaranchal University, Dehradun; Modern’s Education Society’s College of Engineering, Pune; Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwa vidyalaya, Sagar, MP; Government Polytechnic Namsai Village Jaipur, Arunachal Pradesh; Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad; Central University of Jammu, JK; Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, HP; Smt Nankibai Wadhwani Kala Mahavidyalaya, Yavatmal; Synergy Institute of Engineering & Technology, Odisha have been selected by the Ministry.
Now to develop Aryans as a green campus, Aryans would submit its action plan, cost breakup on various activities, preparation of master plan & detailed project reports, awareness and capacity building activities for this project.
