JAMMU, Aug 4: In a run up to forthcoming Panchayat and Lok Bodies elections slated to be held in October- November this year and the Lok Sabha elections in next year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding a two days workshop of PRIs including BDC and DDC members at Patnitop in Udhampur district from tomorrow which will be followed by one day workshop of DDC chairpersons from Northern India at Haryana on August 6.
The workshop at Patnitop will be inaugurated by Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh tomorrow evening and it will be addressed by party’s co convener J&K Ashish Sood and senior party leaders from J&K on August 6.
Sources in BJP said the party is fully geared up for the elections and it has already started exercise from grassroots level in this regard. The process of strengthening the party from booth level has already been started by BJP leadership all over the country with starting of a vigorous campaigning in this regard, sources added.
The party is claiming that election results in J&K both in Lok Sabha as well as Local Bodies’ poll will be surprising as BJP will beat all the previous records in the UT.
“In Lok Sabha elections, people will be surprised as BJP this time will win seats from Kashmir valley also,” said Ashish Sood, co-convener J&K BJP. “After abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A, you will get surprising results from J&K. Situation has now totally changed in Kashmir and people of Valley have seen that the BJP has brought development to people’s door steps’’, he added.
He said “The enormous house hold welfare schemes launched by Narendra Modi Government have been highly acknowledged by the people of Kashmir including Ayushman Bharat, Ujwala, Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, Startup, PM Awas Yojna etc. These schemes have changed the view of people in Kashmir about BJP,’’ he added.
Accusing Congress of misleading people on power tariff, pension scheme, Sood said that the party (Congress) can go to any extent for gaining power. The party is not convincing the people but confusing them. The party leadership is behaving like anarchists, he added.
Sood, while making party view clear about the installation of smart meters and increasing power tariff made it clear that the Electricity Act was passed by UPA Government of which Congress was the major partner. Under the Electricity Act the distribution and transmission system was divided to overcome the losses in various States, he added.
But now Congress is misleading the people on this account and not only the Electricity Act but the New Pension Scheme was also a decision of the UPA Government but now the Congress has no guts to own it. Sood, however, said that while implementing the new process in power sector or new pension scheme, the utmost care has to be taken that public should not suffer or put to problems.
Maintaining that BJP is with the public in this regard, Sood said that party will discuss the issue with UT administration so that the people are not put to problems and hardships.
Sood said the Congress misled the people in Karnataka also and now after coming to power they have backtracked. They will go to any extent to grab power but later backtrack from their promises made with people. “In Karnataka they say they can’t construct roads while Rajasthan State which is ruled by party is on the verge of bankruptcy, he added.
Sood said BJP as a public friendly and responsible political party will ensure that people don’t get disturbed while implementing the new rules on account of electricity bills or new pension scheme.
Sood said that in the two days training workshop, the PRIs, BDC and DDC members will, also be educated how to counter the opposition’s false narrative. He said on August 6 DDC chairmen of Northern India will attend the workshop at Haryana and the main objective of these workshops would be how they (PRIs as well as BDC and DDC members ) can better contribute in the forthcoming elections. Their role and roadmap for coming elections and party programmes will be threadbare discussed in the workshops, he added.
“BJP is a party with difference and we have a different work culture than other political parties. Unlike Congress, the decisions are not thrust on party men but policy programmes are discussed from grassroots level i.e from booth to national level,’’ he said, adding by holding such type of programmes the party is preparing pitch for elections and launch a vigorous campaign in the country.
“Unlike Congress and other opposition parties we are going to include PRIs, BDCs and DDCs in building a narrative and this is the main difference between Congress and BJP,’’ he said.
