Asaram remanded in judicial custody till Oct 25

JODHPUR, Oct 11: A local court here today extended  till October 25, the judicial custody of self-styled godman  Asaram in the infamous case of sexual assault on a 16-year-  old girl in his Manai ashram here about two months ago.
The preacher and two of his close aides and co-accused Shilpi and Siva were today produced before the trial court following  expiry of their judicial custody remand.
The court further remanded them in the custody in jail.
A team of personnel led by an Additional Commissioner of  Police, that reached here yesterday has sought transit remand for the controversial spiritual guru to take him to Gujarat in connection with a case of rape lodged against him at a police station in Surat.
The court is expected to deliver order on the request later in the day.
Asaram was arrested in Indore on August 31 night in connection with a case of sexual assault on the girl at his Manai Ashram here on August 15.
He was brought here on September 1 and since then he is behind  the bars here.
Besides Asaram, two of his aides are also behind the bars in the case.  Now, the ‘guru’ is wanted by the Gujarat Police in connection with case of rape lodged against him by a woman, at the Jahangirpuri police station in Surat. (UNI)
