JAMMU, Dec 7: ASCOMS & Hospital and Dr Ritu Gupta Foundation today organized first Dr Ritu Gupta Lecture which was attended by a large number of faculty, staff and students of the Institution.
Chief Guest on the occasion was Bhupinder Kumar (Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education, J&K) while Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman (Director Health Services, Jammu) and DK Batra (Secretary, ASCOMS) were guests of honour.
Other dignitaries who attended the function were Manik Batra & Bhisham Batra (Trustees of ASCOMS), Dr Pavan Malhotra (Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital), Dr Ghanshyam Saini (Officiating Principal, GMC Jammu), Dr AS Bhatia (Principal, GMC Rajouri), Dr Noor Ali (Principal, GMC Doda), Dr Rakesh Gupta (Principal, IGDC Jammu), Dr Ashok Sharma (Prof & HoD Ophthalmology, GMC Jammu), Dr Abhishek Mahajan (SSP Samba) and Babu Ram Gupta (father-in-law of late Dr Ritu Gupta).
Bhupinder Kumar, in his address, paid heart-felt tributes to Dr Ritu Gupta and said, “We have lost such a talented nice teacher who contributed a lot as teacher, as a mother and as a wife. He further said that all young doctors should learn from the life of late Dr Ritu Gupta who worked for the cause of common people.
Earlier, the function started with the opening address of Dr Geetika Gupta, Prof & Head Physiology, ASCOMS & Hospital, who said that the vacuum created with the demise of Dr Ritu Gupta can never be filled but she will remain in the hearts of all students she taught and the friends and colleagues.
In his address, Dr Pavan Malhotra said that this lecture of series was conceived when Dr Ritu Gupta passed away to keep her memories alive in medical academia of J&K.
Dr AS Bhatia, Dr Urvi Gupta (daughter of Dr Ritu Gupta) and Suresh Jandiyal (brother-in-law of Dr Ritu Gupta) and Dr Ashok Sharma (Prof & Head, Department of Ophthalmology, GMC Jammu) also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, the toppers of Physiology subject were rewarded by Dr Ritu Gupta Foundation.
