Aseer Kishtwari features in ‘Meet the Author’ programme

JAMMU, Feb 29: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) here today under its ‘Meet the Author’ programme organised an interaction with Sahitya Akademi Awardee, Wali Mohd Bhat (Aseer Kishtwari), former Director General Accounts and Treasury and an eminent Urdu/Kashmir poet/writer.
Kishtwari is a renowned name in Kashmiri, Urdu literature and history of J&K.
He was born to Kh. Ghulam Qadir Batt Berwari at village Berwar, Kishtwar on August 2, 1954 and has several books to his credit wherein his book ‘Tareekh-e-Auliya-e-Jammu wa Kashmir’, was chosen as the Best Urdu Book of 2015 and it received State Award from JKAACL.
Another book by Kishtwari ‘Jamis Manz Kashir Zaban-O-Adab (Tawareekh Te Tanqeed)’ recieved Sahitya Akadmi Award for the year 2020.
At the outset, Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL delivered welcome address.
Dr. Om Goswami, a noted author, read paper on the life and works of Prof. Veena Gupta.
Alongside this, several prominent writers of different languages attended the event at K.L. Saigal Hall in Jammu.
The dignitaries and writers at the event included Padamshree Dr Jitender Udhampuri, Professor Archana Kesar, Professor Sushma Sharma, Dr Sandeep Dubey, Dr Padam Dev Singh, Dr Chanchal Bhasin, Vijya Thakur, Sunita Badwal, P.L Parihaar, Dr. Sushma Rani, Krishna Prem, Santosh Sangra, Susheel Begana and many more.
Dr Rattan Basotra conducted proceedings of the programme and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shahnawaz.
