Ashok Gehlot demands national status for ERCP Project

JAMMU, Sept 27: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has demanded that the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) should be given the status of national importance.
In a statement, he said, the ERCP is an ambitious project of the State that will fulfil the requirement of drinking water of 13 Districts and augment the irrigation facility in over 2 Lakh hectares.
“The Central Government should give this project the status of national importance to solve the drinking water problem of 13 Districts of Rajasthan,” he said.
Gehlot said that his Government’s people-friendly policies and their systematic implementation by efficient financial management has resulted in 4 times growth of the State.
“Owing to this, with 11.04% GDP rate, Rajasthan has emerged as the top performing State of the North India and the second in the country,” he further said.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister said that his Government has now launched Mission 2030 to take the growth to a ten times high figures. To make this happen, he said, the Rajasthan Government has been planning to prepare a Vision-2030 document.
Gehlot stated this while addressing the jewellers, gem traders and artists at Jaipur’s Birla auditorium.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister said that earlier the State had the notorious recognition of being the most backward State but in the last five years, State has earned the unique recognition of one of the leading States of the country.
He said that with the efficient management practices adopted by the State, it is expected that the GDP of the State would grow by 15 lakh crore by the financial year 2023-24.
Addressing another gathering at Chomu area of Rajasthan, Gehlot said that his Government has taken remarkable initiatives in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors.
He said for the first time in the country, a separate agriculture budget, agriculture welfare fund has been created besides assisting the farmers with 2000 unit of free electricity every month.
He encouraged the agriculturists and horticulturists to make maximum out of the people-friendly Government Schemes.
He said under the Rajasthan Agro Processing and Agriculture Business and Agriculture Export Encouragement Policy, agriculturists can process and market their agricultural products.
Under this scheme, he said, that the unit holders are being given a loan up to Rs 2 crores.
Natural calamities are also being adequately compensated, said the Rajasthan Chief Minister.
