JAMMU, Jan 4: Jammu Province Bachao Manch (JPBM) here today organised ‘Ekta Sammelan’ under the leadership of JPBM chairman, Ashok Sharma, former legislator.
Speaking on the occasion JPBM chairman Ashok Sharma said that there is a dire need to have broader unity among the people of Jammu province to restore the lost glory, dignity and pride of the people of Jammu in particular and J&K in general.
He demanded restoration of Statehood to J&K with land and job guarantee for the locals of J&K.
“Unemployment and drug menace are the enemies of the youth which should be dealt using stringent measures,” Ashok Sharma maintained adding: “Imposition of unwarranted taxes and enacting anti-people legislations have deepened the trust deficit in public life which also requires immediate attention.”
Senior Journalist and executive member of JPBM, O.P Sharma expressed serious concern over the silence of Union Government with regards to the important issues of Jammu region.
He said that Jammu has been continuously ignored by the dispensations from time to time and the people of Jammu should unite to fight for their rights.
Jashbir Singh Manhas, Principal Session Judge (Retd), executive member of JBM demanded restoration of PRC (Permanent Resident Certificate) to the people of J&K and claimed that introduction of Domicile is a mischief to make the people of J&K 2nd class citizens.
Kuldip Sharma, chief advisor JBM; vice chairmen, Satish Sawhney Poonchi and Kamalpreet Singh also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the need to implement Art 371 after restoration of Statehood to J&K.
It was resolved to launch ‘Nasha Virodhi Abhiyan’ for one month to aware the public against the menace of intoxicants.

B.D Sharma (Retd.), Haji Shah Mohd, Ashwani Sharma, B.L Sharma, Surinder Shastri, Balbir Singh, Devinder Singh Jamwal, Baldev Singh, Jagjit Singh, Surinder Singh Jamwal, Rohit Sharma (Happy), Asif Mir, Vishal Sharma, Irfan Ahmed, Amit Sharma, Kushal Singh Manhas, Sumit Sharma and Kailash Bhardwaj were also present on the occasion.
