JAMMU, Mar 12: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Mohammad Ashraf has called upon the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to expedite completion of new Master Plan for the development of Greater Jammu to fulfil the futuristic housing needs of people.
While reviewing the functioning of JDA at a meeting held here today, the Minister emphasized for creating modern infrastructure in the JDA owned housing colonies and at other commercial places for the convenience of people, besides undertaking new projects as per the futuristic needs of the people of Jammu.
Secretary, Housing & Urban Development, Satesh Nehru and other officers of the JDA were present in the meeting.
The Minister asked for visionary planning for catering to the population growth and increasing settlements in urban areas. He directed for developing multi-tier parking lots and shopping complexes in and around Jammu city in view of the increased traffic volume.
Expressing satisfaction over the performance of the JDA, the Minister maintained that the organization should step up efforts to retrieve its encroached land and expeditious disposal of Court cases. He also called for proper demarcation of JDA land to avoid encroachments in future.
Vice Chairman, JDA, Mubarak Singh gave detailed resume of the activities of the organization. He also briefed about the status of various on-going development projects of JDA.
Earlier, the Minister along with Secretary Housing & Urban Development and concerned officers of JDA inspected the on-going development projects at vegetable market, commercial complex and flatted accommodation at Lower Muthi and proposed housing colony at Kot Bhalwal.
