JAMMU, Dec 27: Senior BJP leader and former MLA Bishnah, Ashwani Sharma today expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the Panchayat elections and complimented the Governor and State administration for conducting these ULB and Panchayat elections peacefully despite the boycott call given by two Kashmir-centric parties National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing a public meeting in Chak Shivu village of Bishnah Constituency, Ashwani asked newly elected Sarpanches and Panches to remember the purpose behind conduct of these elections and contribute towards development of their area. “The Central Government has assured liberal funding for Panchayat Raj institutions and now it is up to elected representatives at the grass root level to ensure that funds are spent judiciously for the welfare of the people,” he added.
The former MLA said that after successful conduct of urban local bodies and Panchayat elections, it is the opportunity for peace to return to the State and development should take the front seat.
“There is no scope for terrorism and people associated with this menace are responsible for the bloodshed in the State. The BJP led Government at the Centre has zero tolerance towards terrorism and terrorists and security forces have been given free hand to put this menace to an end,” Sharma said.
He said that soon militancy will come to an end and for the last two years people have witnessed the number of militants killed in anti-militancy operations.
Targeting Kashmir-centric parties for ignoring Jammu at every level by discriminating with the nationalist people, he said that this was the biggest issue due to which BJP withdrew its support from PDP led Government. “BJP will never compromise on fundamentals, which is the guiding force for every nationalistic person of Jammu. If any party tries to create wedge among us and discriminate with Jammu, we will stand against them,” Sharma added.
The former MLA Bishnah also raised the issue of compensation to farmers who land has come for fencing on the International Border (IB). “The Central Government has already sanctioned the compensation but at the administrative level things are not moving fast.
On this occasion, Ashwani Sharma honoured wife of Uri martyr Subedar Karnail Singh and announced to keep the Chak Shivu to Chak Chimna road on his name.
