RAJOURI, Mar 22: An ASI and seven other police personnel were injured and a JCB damaged during clash with the villagers in Kotranka area of district Rajouri today.
The problem took place when the police and civil officers from the District Administration had gone to the Panchayat–B of Kotranka today. Some people were objecting to the construction of a road under PMGSY and had created trouble for the constructing agency. The work on the road project worth Rs 5 cr had been abandoned. One Abdul Aziz was not allowing the work on the project stating that some land falling under road project, belonged to him.
On the directions of DC Rajouri, when Tehsildar, SHO concerned and others moved to the area to start the work, Abdul Aziz’s family and his relatives started pelting stones on the team. ASI Ali Mohd, seven cops and driver of JCB Mohd Ashraf were injured in the attack. Later, police arrested Abdul Aziz and four others for violence. The work was however, resumed on the road.
