ASI killed, youth injured in road mishap

JAMMU, Nov 4: An Assi-stant Sub Inspector (ASI) of J&K Police was killed and a youth was injured in a road mishap at Nud in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
According to a police spoke-sman, the ASI Joginder Verma (60) son of Mela Ram, resident of Devipur, who was posted in CID wing of police station Akhnoor, along with a youth identified as Tarsem Lal (28) son of Dina Nath, resident of Devipur, was going on a bike bearing registration number JK02AG-9026 late last night when a bus bearing registration number JK21-1879 hit their two wheeler.
In the collision, both received serious injuries and were rushed to Sub District Hospital Akhnoor, from where they were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. Later, in view of his critical condition, the ASI was shifted to Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, Katra by the family members but he succumbed to his injuries today at about 6.30 am. The condition of Tarsem was stated to be stable.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased cop was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The Akhnoor police had registered a case in this connection and started investigatinons.
