Asian Granito eyes Rs 1,000 cr biz this year

TIRUCHIRAPALLI, TN, May 24: Ahmedabad-based Asian Granito India Ltd, a leading space decor company, has set a growth target of 40 per cent this fiscal to reach Rs 1,000 crore business turnover.
AGIL, one of the country’s largest tiles manufacturers, also plans to add 50 exclusive brand stores on franchise models across the country over the next three years, company Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) A P Manojkumar said.
“We have maintained 20 per cent growth in the last few years and our business stood at Rs 703 crore in the year ended March 31, 2012. We are targeting 40 per cent growth this year as the market potential is facing an upsurge in the country,” he told here.
Manojkumar, who was here to inaugurate a 1,200 sq ft brand store last week, said at least 50 exclusive brand stores would be launched in the next three years.
The new concept of exclusive brand stores had gained momentum. Besides Tiruchirappalli, the brand store was unveiled in Bangalore.
Before the end of this fiscal, AGIL plans to set up brand stores in Jaipur and Delhi and add two more in Bangalore.
“We are strong in our marketing network with over 1,000 dealers and an equal number of sub-dealers across the country. We have covered almost all the Tier-I and Tier-II cities. Our future focus is semi-urban and Tier-III locations,” he said.
AGIL has manufacturing facilities in 5 locations with total installed daily capacity of 60,000 sq mts of tiles, including vitrified tiles, ceramic floor and wall tiles, Manojkumar said.
The firm has no plans to increase production capacity but might go for inorganic expansion, he said, adding that AGIL will embark on contract manufacturing tie ups with leading global players.
There are no new products in the pipeline but AGIL would seek to consolidate the newly introduced digital vetrified tiles (DVT) in the premium market.
Launched in December, with the help of inhouse R&D, demand for DVT was growing with the company selling around one lakh sq mts of the tiles every month, he said.
He said AGIL exports its products to 22 countries with the sales accounting for three per cent of total business and sounded optimistic of a 50 per cent growth this year with the addition of a few more overseas markets. (PTI)
