ANANTNAG: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, Saturday visited Anantnag and inspected various ongoing works of the Health Department in the district.
Ms. Naqash first visited the Anantnag Medical College and reviewed the progress of construction work under execution here. Sher inspected the infrastructural progress of various structures including the library block, administrative sections, girls and boys hostels among its other blocks.
She called on the concerned ensure the ongoing construction work of the College, built over 177 kanals of land at an estimated cost of 139 crores and with an intake capacity of 100 students per year, is completed by the set deadline of November, 2018, so that classes can be started at the earliest.
During her visit, the Minister also inspected various hospitals in district to take stock of their overall functioning.
At the MMABM District Hospital, Anantnag, she asked the authorities to ensure proper care of hygiene in the hospital and stressed on using the latest technology of waste segregation and solid waste management.
Ms. Naqash also interacted with the patients to know about their well being and sought details of facilities they receive from the hospital authorities.
She asked the officials to give requisition for what is lacking in implementation of a proper healthcare system.
Later, the Minister visited and reviewed the progress of construction at the Rehmat-e-Alam Hospital, which has been recently taken over by the government to cater the populace from peripheral areas.
In order to increase paramedic staff in the Valley, the Minister also directed for expediting the construction of the ANMT College being built at Akoora, Mattan. Ms. Naqash said the college would not only train the young generation but would also open new doors of opportunity for them.
During her visit to the district, the Minister also met local bodies of Anantnag and discussed various issues and schemes with them.
District Commissioner Anantnag, Director Health Services, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Medical Superintendent Anantnag District Hospital, Principal Government Medical College among others accompanied the Minister during the visit.
