SRINAGAR, May 5: Minister of State for Heath and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash today lauded the efforts of medical and paramedical staff for their untiring services and called for providing best medical facilities to patients at Government run health institutions within the State.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized under 21st Post Graduate Research Program (PGRP) by the Department of Cardiology, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS).
She said that such programmes provide opportunity for scientific deliberations and opinion of experts from varied fields, which helps in better patient care and proves beneficial to medical students.
Asiea urged students to make optimum use of the innovative techniques and learn from the experiences of such programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Director SKIMS A. G. Ahanger said that the loss of lives due to non-communicable diseases is a cause of concern and experts must put in their best to find out the causes to control such diseases.
The experts highlighted the recent advancements in the field of medical science in the country as well as across the world.
As many as 127 Postgraduate and Post Doctoral students of SKIMS participated in the academic event.
Principal SKIMS Medical College Prof Riyaz A Untoo, Principal GMC Srinagar Samia Rashid, Dean Medical Faculty Prof. A R Kirmani, administrative officers and faculty members participated in the event.
