ASKPC convenes meeting of all KP leaders to discuss community issues

JAMMU, Sept 1: Keeping in view the present political situation in the State and lackadaisical approach of both State and Central Governments towards displaced Kashmiri Pandits, All State Kashmiri Pandit conference (ASKPC) convened a meeting of all heads of socio-political organizations and social activists of the community here, today which was chaired by its president Advocate, Ravinder Raina.
The representative of major organizations who participated in the meeting were Dr. Agnishekhar, Kuldeep Raina, Daya Krishan from Panun Kashmir, H.N.Jattu (AIKPC) P.L.Budgami (KHF), Vijay Bakaya Ex MLC, Ashok Kangan (JKVM), Rakesh Koul, Sampuran Kashmir , Vijay Bhat, Ravinder Jalali (PK), M.K.Yogi NC Minority Cell , Chand Ji Bhat (BJP district President) , P.K.Tikoo (PDP Migrant Cell), D.N.Kissu , Prof Girdhari Lal, P.L.Swadeshi (AKDUF), Sharda Nanadan, T.K.Ganjoo , Anil Bhat, Prof. Verinder Rawal , M.K.Koul, Verinder Raina, Kanwal Krishan and Executive members of ASKPC.
All the speakers were critical and expressed their concern against the attitude of the Government towards the displaced community and alleged that fundamental rights of the community are being snatched. “We are running 30th year of exiled life and are refugees in our own country besides facing human rights violations as is evident that the voting rights in Municipal elections has been snatched by deleting the names from the voter list of the place /ward where the KPs are residing for the last 30 years. “We need civic facilities at the place of living while we are being asked to use our vote for a corporator who is hundreds of miles away from us and has no locus standi to cater to our civic amenities” the KP leaders added.
The community leaders in one voice after discussion felt that though so many representations and memorandums were submitted to the Government /election authorities , but they failed to pay attention and come with any concrete solution. To obtain justice as early as possible the KP leaders made an appeal to Governor to look into the matter personally to get the problem sorted out by giving direction to the Election authority.
The meeting also decided to observe Martyrs Day on September 14 at one place.
