ASKPC, KPC, others pay glowing tribute to Kashyap Bandhu

JAMMU, Dec 18: Glowing tribute were paid to veteran KP leader and a great social reformer Kashyap Bandhu by All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) on his death anniversary here, today.
ASKPC chief R K Wangnoo while paying tribute to this great leader and freedom fighter recalled his services to the nation, people of J&K and his community as well.
He said Bandhu Ji which he was commonly called was a great visionary and a strong votary of J&K’s accession to India and among the great leaders of that time who prevailed upon Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah to change the Muslim Conference into National Conference (NC) so that it can represent people of all three regions and every community.
He also highlighted the social reforms made by Bandhu Ji in Kashmiri Pandit community and said that for this great work he will be remembered always. Besides, a social reformer and thinker Bandhu Ji was a good administrator, Wangnoo added.
Wangnoo while talking to reporters on the occasion asked the Government to redress long pending issues of displaced Kashmiri Pandits including enhancement of monthly relief, grant of financial assistance to Kashmiri migrants suffering from chronic ailments, providing residential accommodation to package employees, providing of ration to all KPs, issuance of directions to JMC for release the funds for pending works and repair of Sabha Bhawan at Durga Nagar. On the occasion tribute were also paid to A N Vaishnavi former president ASKPC, H L Chatta, Ravinder Raina and H N Jatoo president AIKPC.
The tribute to Kashyap Bandhu were also paid by Kashmiri Pandit Conference at a programme at Delhi today by KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri.
He said Kashyap Bandhu a veteran journalist, writer and a community think-tank will always be remembered for his dedicated work and services to society. He said Bandhu Ji was an honest leader who also stood against corrupt and corruption like a rock. Kashmiri said the best tribute to late leader will be that we all should join hands to take his mission forward.
At a function organized by JK Kashyap Bandhu Committee, the speakers recalled the contribution of this great leader towards the upliftment of the community when the Kashmiri Pandits were passing through a very lean phase in the social as well as political march way back during 1931 –1948.
They also recalled the positive aspect of Bandhu leadership role in galvanizing the community’s political aspirations and emancipation of Kashmiri Pandit women. The change in the dress of Pandit ladies, re-marriage of widows, educating the girl child and her shoulder-to-shoulder participation in social progress was especially emphasized by women speakers.
Describing him a towering personality, they said Bandhu was a secularist by core who worked for fostering of bonds between the different communities in the State.
