ASKPC, others opposed to composite township

JAMMU, Nov 13: There has been mixed reaction to PM’s package for Kashmiri migrants and composite township within Valley.
While All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) outright rejected the composite township in Valley for Kashmiri migrants, Sampooran Kashmir Sangathan wanted to know that till the return of the Pandits to Valley what steps government is going to take to improve their living conditions in exile.
However Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) has demanded that Government should take immediate steps for rehabilitation of Pandits in the Satellite Township in Valley to save it from extinction.
The ASKPC chief, Advocate Ravinder Riana who convened a meeting of his organization here today to discuss the issue said that nothing except one place settlement for displaced Pandits was acceptable to his organization. He said the Pandits be settled at a single place in Valley where thee is free flow of Indian Constitution as the community does not like to see the repetition of 1989-90 type situation once again when they were forced to flee from Valley on gun point.
He said the anti national elements and separatists are not ready to accept the Pandits as aborigines of Valley.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri while rejecting the composite township in Kashmir said that nothing except the one place settlement with institutional and constitutional guarantees is acceptable to the community. Kashmiri also rejected the job package saying that Centre should absorb the displaced youth in Central government offices till complete normalcy is restored and Pandits are settled at separate place in Valley.
However Samporan Kashmir Sangthan said that Union Government should fulfill its commitment and first discuss and debate the return formula with KP representatives. SKS president Rakesh Koul said unless and until the blue print is not discussed with community leadership the Government can’t thrust any thing on the community.
SKS president Rakesh Koul said that providing 3000 jobs is not enough and Government should think about over-aged youth and other unemployed people. He said providing cash relief is not a solution and government should announce one time compensation for each family till their rehabilitation in satellite township in Kashmir as same will also take many years.
The KHC president Advocate M L Thusoo and convener P L Koul Budgami said the Government should take immediate steps for settlement of the community in Satellite township in Valley as long forced exile has withered the community members individually and collectively which deserves attention.
