JAMMU, July 17: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its president R K Raina discussed various problems of displaced Pandits and the meeting made an appeal to Relief Commissioner and other authorities of the Relief organization to issue new ration cards to the migrants so that new ration slips can be provided to the relief holders.
Mr Raina expressed the hope that as per the assurance of Relief Commissioner, R K Pandita the new ration cards will be issued soon after the reshuffling of the organization is over by transferring over stayed Zonal officers, zonal assistants and camp commandants.
However he demanded that the relief organisation should find some solution so that the ration slips are issued to migrants who otherwise are facing many hardships. Assuring full cooperation to Relief organization, Mr Raina said that the organization should also ensure that the migrants dependent on relief totally should not suffer on this account.
S K Bhat demanded issuance of backward certificates to migrants belonging to backward areas in Valley. He said when these people are issued State subjects of that area from Jammu why not the backward certificates? He said after the migration the Pandits belonging to backward areas have become more economically poor and their condition deteriorated. The meeting warned that in case ration cards were not issued immediately the migrants will be forced to come to streets. The meeting also expressed concern over the prevailing water crisis in Jagti township and demanded that the same be settled without any delay. Subash Chatta, Bharat Bushan Gosani, B L Handoo, S K Jalali and Ashok Dhar addressed the meeting.
