JAMMU, Mar 13: Due to clash of the examination dates for KAS preliminary and national level Combined Graduate Level (CGL), a number of the aspirants are being forced to miss either of the two exams as Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has refused to postpone the PSC exam.
The examinations, KAS preliminary by PSC and CGL by Staff Selection Commission, are scheduled to be held on March 19 and a large number of candidates have applied for the both.
Even as it is not possible for the aspirants to appear in two different exams at the same time, the PSC has refused to accept the demand for postponement of its exam.
“ There is no question of postponing the PSC exam, which has already been delayed and we have fixed the date after taking into consideration the schedule of UPSC exams. If postponed now, the exam will get further delayed for three-four months,” said Abdul Rashid Deva, Chairman of JKPSC.
Pertinent to mention that a number of candidates and their groups have approached the PSC for seeking postponement of the exam but the response was negative.
Meanwhile, ABVP and NSUI have also appealed the PSC to postpone the scheduled KAS exam on March 19.
NSUI State president Neeraj Kundan, in a statement, warned protests if the PSC does not postpone its scheduled exam on March 19. “The approach of PSC is anti-students and puts the career of hundreds of talented aspirants in jeopardy,” he said.
ABVP State secretary Varsha Jandial, in a separate statement, said that the PSC should not deprive the candidate from competing in either one of the two exams.
The Government should take cognizance of the issue and do justice with the career of the students by getting the PSC exam postponed, she added.
