Srinagar, June 3: The Accounts Assistant aspirants today demanded that the eligibility criteria for the posts advertised by the JKSSB be changed to simple graduation without any percentage bar.
The 2000 posts to be filled across J&K—along with the syllabus and the eligibility criteria were advertised by the JKSSB last year and the candidates from selected streams were termed to be eligible with 50 percent marks in graduation.
However, after the aspirants protested, the criteria were changed. But the bar of 50 percent marks in the graduation remained.
The criteria were further altered in a way that if a candidate is not having 50 percent marks in graduation, but has got the same in PG, he is eligible to apply for the post. However, those with just graduation and also do not fit in the criteria of 50 percent marks are demanding further relaxation.
“While the bar is 50 percent in graduation, there is no weightage for the marks; the weightage is just what we can score in the written examination; there are many who do not fit in the criteria and that’s why we demand further changes,” Pervaiz Rashid Mir, an aspirant told Excelsior.
Another aspirant, Kaushik from Samba told Excelsior that if the J&K Bank can keep the eligibility as simple graduation, why not the JKSSB.
The aspirants demanded that the administration must make changes in the eligibility criteria so that those who do not have 50 percent marks in graduation are able to apply for the posts.
