‘Clashing with IGNOU’s annual exam’

Srinagar, June 15: Scores of aspirants staged a protest today, demanding a one-month deferment of the JKSSB Supervisor, ICDS exam, which clashes with the annual IGNOU exam.
Several women aspirants gathered at the Press Enclave, where protests are now rarely allowed, holding placards to draw attention to their issue, emphasizing that their concerns have not been heard.
“IGNOU’s annual exam coincides with the JKSSB exam. How are we supposed to appear for both?” asked Rukaiya, one of the aspirants.
It is noteworthy that many aspirants are scheduled to take the JKSSB exam for the Supervisor ICDS post in the Social Welfare Department on June 23.
However, IGNOU is also conducting its nationwide annual exam on the same date, prompting aspirants to protest and request a deferment.

Aspirants mentioned that they had already brought the matter to the attention of the Chairman, JKSSB, before approaching the media, but the issue remains unresolved.
“The Chairman informed us that we have to choose between IGNOU and JKSSB. Is this a fair resolution? This is about our careers; where are we supposed to go?” questioned another aspirant.
The aspirants noted that political leaders, including Agh Ruhullah who recently won the Lok Sabha elections from Srinagar, have also raised the issue on ‘X’, but despite this, the administration has not responded.
Despite diligently preparing for the JKSSB exam, aspirants expressed frustration at being labeled as “non-serious.”
Aspirants alleged that JKSSB has a history of delayed exams and has not published a calendar that would provide clarity on exam schedules.
“We expected our exams to be scheduled sequentially, but they released the 2023 notification while previous exams were still pending. We understand that, but we just want a deferment so we can appear for both IGNOU and JKSSB exams,” they explained.
