NEW DELHI, Dec 13: Governor of Assam, Banwarilal Purohit today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed wide range of issues related to administrative and political matters of the State.
The Governor informed Dr Jitendra Singh that, soon after taking over his new assignment in Raj Bhawan recently, he had embarked on a State-wide tour and out of a total of 35 districts,he had already covered a majority of them by now. Based on his ground observations at different places, he said, he had taken a note of certain observations which he wanted to share with the DoNER Minister.
The Governor had all praise for the demonetization decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also gave a feedback based on his observations about how to promote “cashless transactions” in the peripheral region of Northeast.
In the background of his long experience and expertise, Banwarilal Purohit also offered several suggestions for the improvement of the standards of education and the education infrastructure in the State of Assam.
The Governor also offered his inputs and opinion regarding the current socio-economic scenario in the State and the reforms which can be contemplated for further betterment.
Dr Jitendra Singh gave an attentive hearing to the observations made by the Governor and took a note of the same. He recalled his meeting with Purohit at Raj Bhawan, Guwahati, soon after the latter had taken over as the Governor and said that he would keep in regular touch with him in future also and provide time to time update on various  issues.
