2,504 prisoners, including 69 foreign nationals, lodged in J&K jails: Govt

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that a total number of 2,504 prisoners, including 69 foreign nationals, are lodged in various jails across the state.
While replying to the question of MLA Engineer Rashid, the Government in a written reply has said that a total of 2,504 prisoners were lodged in various jails in the state.
The reply said that 20 people, including seven foreign national were convicted under militancy-related cases, 227, including 12 foreign national, common law, 170, including 20 foreign national undertrials, militancy-related, 2010, including 30 foreign national undertrials, under common law, 63 detenues militancy-related, 16 detenues under NDPS and 98 are other detenues.
The Government said that the particulars of the prisoners cannot be disclosed while the the details of prisoners lodged outside the state are not maintained by the Home Department. (AGENCIES)
