JAMMU, May 14: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat urged the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to immediately gear up its men and machinery to assess the losses caused to crops due to the incessant rains and hailstorm in several villages of Marh constituency.
Bali Bhagat asked the Government to assess the exact losses caused in order to provide compensation to the affected farmers who have lost their crops and they must be compensated on priority basis.
The former Minister appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha to constitute a team headed by the Chief Secretary and issue necessary directions to the administrative heads of Revenue, Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to move out and immediately assess the losses suffered by the farmers and provide them financial assistance on top priority so that they come out of the distress due to heavy financial losses thrust upon them due to inclement weather.
Bali Bhagat urged the Lt Governor to implement Pradhan Mantri Fassal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the BJP Government led by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been quite instrumental in launching multifarious policies and schemes for uplifting the condition of the farmers and ensuring their overall welfare.
He demanded that the crops of farmers should be covered under Pradhan Mantri Fassal Bima Yojana so that the farmers will get benefit of the schemes initiated by the Modi Government instead of depending upon compensation from the local Government.
Bali Bhagat made a fervent appeal to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately take necessary steps in order to ensure that the benefits  of Centrally Sponsored Schemes are provided to the people of  Jammu and Kashmir in general and famers in particular especially under the Pradhan Mantri Fassal Bhima Yojana.
