JAMMU, Dec 7: The general body meeting of the Association of Industries (AOI), Gangyal, Jammu, was held today at its office following the election of office bearers for a two-year tenure.
The meeting, presided over by the Association president, Virendra Jain, witnessed active participation from members and senior officials, including Arun Manhas, Director of Industries & Commerce, and Virender Manyal, General Manager, DIC Jammu.
In his welcome address, Virendra Jain assured members of unwavering efforts to safeguard and promote the welfare of the Micro and Small industrial sector in Jammu. Jain emphasized the AOI’s commitment to resolving the daily challenges faced by local industries and fostering their growth.
He informed members about AOI’s collaborative efforts with relevant departments to strengthen the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted AOI’s plans to work closely with the Federation of Industries, Jammu (FOIJ), and representatives from industrial organizations in Kashmir for better representation of issues affecting the sector.
During the meeting, Jain shared updates on ongoing initiatives, including his discussions with the Chief Engineer, JPDCL, for uninterrupted power supply to industrial areas. He also raised concerns about the dilution of the Turnover Incentive for existing industrial units, urging the Government to ensure its full implementation as per policy.
Director Industries & Commerce, Arun Manhas, assured the members of the Department’s commitment to addressing their issues. He promised to seek additional funds for the Turnover Incentive refunds and recommended the removal of capping to facilitate ease of doing business. Manhas also stressed maintaining regular interactive sessions with AOI members to improve the working environment for the Micro and Small sector.
The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by general secretary Sanjay Langar while the meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by senior vice president S B Abrol, acknowledging members’ active participation and valuable suggestions. Other office bearers present included Sanjay Langar (general secretary), Sandeep Ohri (vice president), Ajay Kumar Mahajan (secretary) and Jatinder Singh (treasurer).
