SRINAGAR, Sept 10: The Assistant Engineer aspirants have expressed deep anguish over the issuance of notification by Public Service Commission (PSC) for preliminary exam for Assistant Engineer (Elect) to be held on Oct 13, 2019.
The engineers urged the PSC to defer the exam to December 2019 as there has been complete shutdown in the Valley and they have not been able to get any study material from online and off line modes. There is no book shop open and even internet services are snapped since Aug 5, as a result of which they are placed at a disadvantage position in comparison to the other parts of the state.
The aspirants expected the Government to have a holistic view of the situation prevailing in the State as the atmosphere prevailing in the Valley is not conducive for preparing in free and fair manner. The unilateral decision of the Government appears to have been taken in haste and without ascertaining the ground realities.
The students appealed the Governor and Chairman Public Service Commission to postpone the Assistant Engineer-Elect examination and held in Dec 2019 so that students can mobilize resources and move to other parts of State to get free and fair opportunity for appearing in the competitive examination.
