JAMMU, Nov 22: Asthi Visarjan of Subrata Roy Sahara was performed at the holy River Ganga in Haridwar and Varanasi, as well as at the Sangam in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
As per a statement, Joybroto Roy, Subrata Roy’s younger brother and Deputy Managing Worker of Sahara India Pariwar, led the Asthi Visarjan ritual alongside OP Srivastava and other senior members.
On November 22, 2023, the Asthi Visarjan was conducted at Haridwar, following the rituals performed at Sangam in Prayagraj and Varanasi on November 21, 2023. The ceremonies drew large crowds, including Sahara Workers, who participated in the Asthi Kalash procession for the final farewell.
The Asthi Visarjan will continue at Aamby Valley City on November 29, 2023, allowing for a wider congregation to pay their respects. Subrata Roy Sahara, who passed away on November 14, 2023, was laid to rest on November 16 in Lucknow.
In the wake of his demise, a multitude of tributes poured in from various quarters. Notable figures, ranging from Star of the Millennium Amitabh Bachchan to Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, expressed their condolences.
The outpouring of grief extended across domains, with figures like PV Sindhu, Yuvraj Singh, Saina Nehwal, Pullela Gopichand, Anupam Kher, Sonu Nigam, Madhur Bhandarkar, and Abhishek Bachchan joining in.
