JAMMU, July 24: A delegation of Association of Small & Tiny Industries led by its president, Harbinder Singh and general secretary- Ajay Jagotra met the Chief Secretary of JKUT, Atal Dulloo through virtual mode today and projected the burning issues of the Small and & Tiny Industries in Jammu Province.
During the meeting, the issues being faced by the Tiny Industry in the region were forcefully taken up with the J&K Chief Secretary and a memorandum in this connection was also submitted. They strongly demanded to constitute a high level committee for the revival of sick industrial units and resolution of problems being faced by the local Micro Industry of Jammu region.
They appreciated the Union Government’s move to provide subsidized loans to the unemployed youth and others through Government departments/ agencies like – KVIB, KVIC, DIC under PMEGP Scheme. They said government, no doubt is promoting entrepreneurship, but the Banks are not playing their role honestly. Covid hit the economy in bad way and also affected the Industrial sector in this part as well. Many Micro and Tiny units could not survive with its adverse impact. They were forced to temporarily close their operations. Many of them could not resume their operation till date.
Now, the banks have been declaring these sick units as NPA merely on grounds like `no sufficient transactions’. Some of the bankers are auctioning these units to their related property dealers. Banking benefits like rescheduling/ restructuring are not being given to these sick units, instead they are forcefully being converted into NPAs and then being put in the market for auction to related persons by the bankers.
The Association requested the Chief Secretary to personally intervene into the matter and constitute a Government level committee for the revival of these sick units and hold inquiry with regard to auctioning of sick units.
