Srinagar, Dec 13: In a bid to facilitate the movement of patients as well as their attendants at SKIMS, Soura, Athrout today provided 4 e-rickshaws to the hospital which will carry people from the main hospital building to the main entrance and vice versa.
The charitable trust said that they have been observing that the patients along with their attendants had to walk quite a distance from the main hospital building to the entrance.
“Keeping that in view, we have dedicated 4 e-rickshaws for the service of the people; we have to see that not everyone has got a car or any other vehicle and these e-rickshaws will prove to be beneficial for them,” Bashir Ahmad Nadvi of Athrout said.
He said that the number of the e-rickshaws will be increased after getting the feedback of the pilot project that has been started. “We also have a plan of putting in place two dedicated ambulances to ferry patients between SMHS and Super Speciality Hospital,” he said.
On the occasion, people who were present during the inauguration of the e-rickshaws appreciated the step taken by Athrout and said that it will come as a relief to patients as well as attendants reaching the hospital for the treatment.
“Walking from the entrance to the hospital has always been a nightmare for people who don’t have their transport; with the facility of the e- rickshaws, the people are going to heave a sigh of relief,” Manzoor Ahmad, accompanying his patient said.
