Atkhuroo –Rabitar people demand completion of work on iron bridge

SRINAGAR, Aug 20: The inhabitants of Atkhuroo -Rabitar in Sherpathri block of Central Kashmir district of Ganderbal have expressed grave concern over the abandoning the work on iron bridge over river Sindh which would link the area to Capital city of Srinagar.
At a meeting in the area today organized by peoples Conference leader Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani people alleged that for last four years the bridge has not been completed as the R&B Department abandoned the work without assigning any reason.
Addressing the meeting Abdul Aziz Guru, Mohammed Salim and Manzoor Ahmed said that thousands of people of adjoining villages were facing problems due to non completion of the bridge and demanded its immediate construction. They warned agitation in case the work was not resumed on the bridge.
The meeting said that timber sanctioned for the people of the area over six months back by the Government has not been provided to them till date. They said that the PDD has failed to give connection to transformer at Guru Mohalla which was installed six months back and this backward area where people live in abject poverty has been ignored.
Addressing the meeting Mir Ghulam Rasool urged the authorities to redress the problems of the people of the area immediately. He assured full support to the people from his Party.
