Recent attacks on telecommunication network in the Valley has created panic among the telecom employees. During last one week one after the other attack was made in which two people were killed and three others were injured. In Sopore and Baramulla towns the communication system has been damaged which affected the civilians businessmen and students largely. In several towns cellphone franchise have close their shops because of fear as well as threat. Following the attacks, telecom employees have stopped maintaining the mobile towers and those having franchise of telecom companies started distancing themselves from such services. Huge infrastructre has been raised across the Valley by various companies in the telecom sector with large investments.
The livelihood of good number of people depends upon the good health of such industries. Is it not worthwhile to mention here that, are we not axing our own legs while destroying this important network ? No sane person will allow this destruction to happen. These attacks show desperation. The present dispensation in the State of J&K should ensure safety for the employees working in the telecom companies. Tower safety is essential so that no call drop takes place. The Govt should not allow any person to misuse the tower or install communication equipment atop the tower of private and PSU companies. Internet facility has to be set up at the Distt Head Quarters for the students who have to apply for jobs and admission in various courses online. This would be a temporary arrangement till the telecom services one restored. In addition to this the persons involved in these attacks have to be exposed as early as possible so that peoples faith is restored for all times to come.
