RAMBAN, Jan 1: Some unknown miscreants attacked four lane tunnel construction workers in Maroog area here last night.

Sources said that a vehicle carrying Maroog-Digdool tunnel construction workers of sub-contractor company Nirman Virdhi towards the tunnel construction site Maroog was stopped by a group of masked men between Seri and Kelamorh.
The masked persons entered the vehicle and thrashed the construction workers saying why they had not left the area despite being told for the same.
Manoj Kumar, an injured tunnel construction worker informed that two persons wearing helmets and masks stopped the vehicle in which they were travelling and a group of around dozen persons wearing masks and holding sticks attacked them mercilessly.
Another injured, Maysar Rawat informed that the masked miscreants warned them to leave the area.
About ten workers sustained injuries in the attack.
The injured persons said after beating them the masked persons fled away from the spot.
Later on the injured workers informed the management of Tunnel Construction Company and Police.
On getting information about the incident, SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh, DySP Om Parkash, SHO Police Station Ramban and cops reached the area and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Ramban where they were provided medical aid.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Ramban, Dr. Virinder Trisal said the Hospital received three injured persons who were discharged after providing medical aid.
The three injured were identified as Manoj, 30, son of Roshan Lal, resident of Himachal Pradesh; Pazir, 35, son of Taj Mohd, resident of Himachal Pradesh and Rafiq, 25, son of Reju Ali, resident of Assam.
SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh said that seven to eight persons have been detained for questioning and security has been intensified at the tunnel construction site and patrolling has also been increased for ensuring the safety of workers.
