Attack on RTI activist condemned

JAMMU, May 11: Sangarsh RTI Movement has strongly condemned the attack on RTI activist Bhag Singh Kotwal of Parnote District Doda, who is serving as a master in Government, Higher Secondary School Kandhote by some goons for filling an RTI application in BDO Office Thatri on April 20 seeking details of the money spent on construction of road from Prem Nagar to Parnote.
On May 6 the two persons involved in the construction work of the said road asked Mr Kotwal either to withdraw his application or face the consequences.
On May 9 when Singh was coming back from his school and was on his way to his home to Parnote, the duo who were under the influence of liquor attacked him. It was only after the intervention of some locals that he was rescued. Bhag Singh lodged an FIR in P P Prem Nagar.
Balvinder Singh Convener Sangarsh RTI Movement along with other members which includes Raman Sharma, Senior Advocate sheikh Shakeel, Advocate Diwakar Singh and Advocate Vilakshan Singh advodemands immediate intervention of the Chief Information Commission and the State Government in this regard and also demanded that Government should ensure safety and security of the RTI activists.
