Augmenting rural infrastructure top priority of Govt: Veeri

ANANTNAG, May 24: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, today said that development of rural infrastructure is top priority of the Coalition Government as it would lead to the economic empowerment of rural population.
He said that Government has taken concrete measures by augmenting the rural planning so that the rural areas are at par with the fast developing cities and towns of the State.
The Minister said this while on a day-long visit to the interior areas of Anantnag including Anzawalla, Prakashpora and Anchidora, where the Minister conducted various public meetings and was apprised by the people about issues being faced by them.
Issues like up gradation of the connecting roads, provision of drinking water and electricity supply were putforth before the Minister. He gave a patient hearing to the public delegations and assured them that all their demands would be met in a phased manner.
Regarding the upgradation of Aazwalla-Prakashpora-Anchidora road, the Minister said that the issue has already been taken up with the executing agencies and it would be constructed during the current year.
He said that reaching out to the people and redressal of their grievances is part of the Government policy. He said the present dispensation is commitment to provide equitable development to every region of the State.
On the occasion, the Minister also inspected various ongoing projects in the area and stressed for their timely completion.
