Auqaf to establish Modern Nursing Institute in Jammu: Veeri

SRINAGAR, Oct 14: A modern nursing institute in Jammu would be established soon by Auqaf Department to facilitate students with para-medical training.
In this regard, Haj and Auqaf Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri directed concerned functionaries to ensure time bound completion of formalities for making the institute operational by January 2016.
This direction was given by the Minister while chairing a meeting of Wakf Council members and officers of Auqaf Department held here on Wednesday.
“Nursing Institute would start its functioning in Haj House block Jammu till the institute building is completed”, the Minister added.
Member Legislative Assembly, Rajouri, Ch. Qamar Hussain, Secretary Revenue, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Secretary State Board of Technical Education, Executive Officer Auqaf, Abdul Satar, State Wakaf Council members, Dr. Nissar Ahmad Wani, A. R Wani, Administrators of Auqaf, Jammu, Shadara Sharief, Sunderbani, Nowshara, Samba and Reasi participated in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on several issues related to creation of Auqaf assets in the region and appropriate decisions were taken for building several commercial projects in Jammu division on Auqaf land.
It was decided in the meeting that affiliation of the Nursing Institute would be with BGSBU, Rajouri and for technical association it would be linked with Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar.
The Minister instructed the management committee members to ensure completion of requisite formalities for operational of Nursing Institute from concerned departments well in time. He also directed for completion of DPR of the project for its early construction.
The Minister also reviewed status of construction of flats on wakaf land at Patta Bohri , reconstruction of Jamia Masjid,Talab Khatikan, Sari at Bakshi Nagar, expansion of Jamia Masjid and setting up of Model School at Shahdara Sharief , construction of shopping complexes at Rajouri, Sunderbani and Ramgarh and Polytechnic college at Ismailpur.
The Minister directed Auqaf authorities to take proper possession of Auqaf land and other assets which have been notified under Wakaf Property Act to avoid encroachments. He called upon concerned functionaries to adopt pro-active approach to protect Auqaf assets across the State. He laid stress on proper utilization of Auqaf land and steps for improving financial health of this vital organization.
The Minister called for regular assessment of assets to ensure proper revenue realization as per market rates. He also emphasized to ensure complete transparency in functioning of the Trust. He maintained that Auqaf has a specific mandate and has been tasked to undertake welfare activities for poor sections of Muslim community.
