ICC World Cup | Australia Defeats India By Six Wickets To Win Sixth Title

Ahmedabad, Nov 19: Chasing a target of 241, Australia maintained their killer instinct and pressure from the huge number of fans at the stadium to beat India comprehensively during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad on November 19. India was comprehensive beaten in all departments at the final.
Travis Head took a brilliant catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma and scored an excellent century to take his team to the title.
Australia reached the target in 42.5 overs with six wickets in hand.
Australia lost David Warner (7) early in the innings to Mohammed Shami. Then Jaspirt Bumrah removed both Mitchell Marsh (15) and Steven Smith (4). Australia were 47 for 3 at that stage. But Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschagne (58 not out) maintained their composure and started to build a match winning partnership of 196 runs to put Australia on top and took their team to the sixth title.
Despite Rohit Sharma rotating his bowlers, it didn’t give any fruitful result for the Indian team.
Travis Head was troubled early in the innings but showed an excellent temperament and played a brilliant knock to take his team to win.
Australia lost their opening two games at the start of World Cup 2023 and then won seven in a row to enter the semifinals. In the semifinals they beat South Africa to face India.
On the other hand, India dominated and won all their group matches and defeated New Zealand in the semifinals. In the finals, the team could not withstand the onslaught of Australian team.
With this win Australia has won the World Cup title 6 times viz. 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023.
