Sir,
Keeping in mind the ongoing condition amidst Nation wide lockdown due to pandemic the very basic advise being offered to the countrymen is to adhere with the norms of “Social Distancing” and not to step out of their abodes unless it’s indispensable (for essential services only).
Despite the repeated assurances from the government about the unhindered supply of essentials, noticeably there are people who are seen rushing to hoard essentials and hence coming in close proximity with each other and defying social distancing norms out of compulsion which may prove fatal to the society.
To mitigate the potential risk of Social contact and to assist the general public in the midst of this public health crisis, J&K Administration must ensure the availability of Identified and Authorised Vendors to facilitate essential supplies (VIZ. Vegetables, Fruit, Milk etc.) virtually at every doorstep. When essentials will be provided at every doorstep then people will desist from going outside and hence will lead to less possible exposure to this virus and this consequently will serve the dire need of Social Distancing to check the further spread of this virus.
If this gets implemented, then J&K would not be the only UT to have such strategy, States like Rajasthan, Uttar Pardesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu etc. have already applied this strategy in their respective territories. Even the Urban Affair Ministry has also advised State Governments to allow identified and authorised street vendors to sell essential items during the lockdown.
At this stage even any careless Act of one can land many into Jeopardy. So, in order to minimise the potential risk of contracting the disease(COVID-19) J&K Administration must comply with Urban Affair Ministry’s directions and must pave the way for authorised vendors.
