JAMMU, Aug 25: Keeping check over sale and purchase of liquor on the auspicious occasion of Janamasthami, Nowabad police arrested an auto driver along with illicit liquor pouches from Jewel Chowk area.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nowabad police station laid a naka at Jewel Chowk and intercepted an auto bearing registration number JK02AP-1982.
During checking, police recovered 23 pouches from the auto and arrested the driver on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Vishal Kaith, son of Joginder Kumar, a resident of Krishna Nagar.
A case under FIR Number 120/16 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Nowabad police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Raghubir Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Nikhil Rasgotra and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
