POONCH, Aug 29: National Conference activists took out strong protest demanding restoration of peace in Kashmir and bringing end to the innocent killings.
A large number of NC workers under the leadership of MLA, Javed Rana assembled at local NC office and from there took out a protest march. The party workers were raising slogans against the PDP and BJP. The workers were also carrying banners and placards depicting their demands. After passing through main market the protest was culminated at the same place. Mr Rana also addressed the gathering. Hitting out at both Central and State Governments for loss of precious lives in Valley, Javed Rana termed the 51 days old unrest as an outcome of the wrong policies of PDP and BJP. Expressing agony over the current turmoil, Mr Rana said that the Govt must ensure maximum restraint by the forces dealing with law and order. He said with this the civilian casualties would have been prevented. “The Government has miserably failed to take other measures also, that were urgently required to be taken to prevent the civilian casualties and damages caused to property,” he said.
Terming the loss of precious lives and injuries to thousands as highly condemnable, Mr Rana sought clarity from the State and Central Govt over the use of force and brutality on protestors by the forces, resulting in to dozens of civilian casualities besides leaving thousands injured. He said the people here feel that forces are out to kill innocents which is the cause of growing anger among them (people) across the Valley, both State and Central shall have to address the concerns of the people. Rana further said that giving autonomy to both parts of the divided Jammu and Kashmir is the only way to resolve this ongoing unrest in the Valley.
Autonomy to both sides of Jammu and Kashmir is the only viable and realistic solution to the nearly seven-decade-old problem that has cast dark shadows over the generations. We owe peace and dignified life to posterity. And that can be achieved only by converting the present dividing line between the two neighbouring countries into a line of peace,” he added.
“The soft borders would open up vistas of economic opportunities besides, enabling hassle-free exchange of people, which in turn will be a major dividend to peace and tranquility in the region,” he said
He lashed out at Mehbooba Mufti for her casual approach on Kashmir Issue and said that she should immediately resign as she is not competent enough to lead this State.
