SRINAGAR: A fresh avalanche warning has been issued in Ganderbal, including famed tourist resort of Sonamarg on Srinagar-Leh national highway which is closed since December last year due to accumulation of snow.
According to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, heavy rains and thunderstorm accompanied with squally winds are likely to occur and continue at few places in the Ganderbal district until tomorrow.
People living in the areas of Sub-Division Kangan and Tehsil Lar, particularly in and around Gund, Sonamarg, Watlar, Waliwar, Chanthan, Gulabpora and Chountiwaliwar areas, are advised not to venture into slopes of avalanche-prone forest and hilly areas, advisory issued by DC Ganderbal said.
The locals have been asked to temporarily vacate the locations which are under fall line of avalanches. (AGENCIES)
